Advice I Wish I Gave My Younger Self

“Hindsight is 20/20,” just like the year. Here are some pieces of advice that I’ve had to learn the hard way.

  1. Don’t look for love. Seek friendship instead, as this builds a strong foundation for love. Ultimately, your partner should be a buddy.

  2. People will try to hurt you. Don’t let them.

  3. Have gratitude, and show appreciation, especially for your friends and family who are always there for you.

  4. Every challenge is an opportunity for growth.

  5. When something feels overwhelming, walk away from it for a little while. It won’t be as scary when you come back to it, and you might gain a new perspective to solve the problem.

  6. Some things take time.

  7. The way that people treat you does not determine your self-worth.

  8. Loving with reckless abandon is, well, reckless. Use your brain.

  9. Allow your emotions to help you navigate the world, but don’t be driven by them alone.

  10. Follow your own f*cking advice.
